Hurricane Florence Help - Many in the Carolinas, which is part of our Southeastern District have been impacted by Hurricane Florence. Here are some ways you can help:
1) Pray for all those who have been impacted, who have lost much, and for those who have worked through the storm to protect and rescue people.
2) Make a financial donation at:
3) Organize a gathering of water or diapers (all sizes) or materials for personal hygiene kits, or flood buckets. When you have them gathered, contact the District office.
4) Fill out a form for a Thrivent Action Grant for purchasing materials for recovery.
5) Go to your local food stores and restaurants and ask if they have 5-gallon buckets that they may donate for flood relief.
6) Follow the news so that you will be reminded what to be praying for as the days unfold.
This is a disaster that will not go away soon.
First Communion - First Communion opportunities for students 4th grade and older will take place in a new way during our vacancy. A three-week class for both students and parents will be offered at Sunday noon accompanied by lunch in early 2019.

Be a Prayer Pal! - We are seeking congregation member and friends to become prayer partners for our preschool, Sunday school and confirmation families. Your job is simple: first and foremost to pray for the student.
We hope Prayer Pals will connect with the families in worship and Sunday school or at special events. You may even want to send notes/birthday cards if you so choose.

GALILEE YOUTH FUNDRAISER - MIXED BAGS - Galilee youth is holding a Mixed Bags fundraiser from now until October 14th.
This fundraiser has clever items people will actually use. Home and kitchen essentials, reusable bags and more. Prices are VERY reasonable.
You may shop on-line and place an on-line order at

to order here) OR you can browse through a catalog and place an order with your favorite Galilee Youth while at church.
Catalogs will be available in the Fellowship Hall coffee area. Galilee Youth receives at least 40% of each sale. Money earned will go toward youth group activities/service projects, retreats and the 2019 National Youth Gathering.
Join us at Trunk or Treat! - BRING YOUR CHILDREN to this free community event on Sunday, October 28 from 3-5pm, designed to be a safe alternative to Trick or Treating.
Children up to the 5th grade are invited to participate. (All children need to be accompanied by an adult.) In addition to trunk or treating, there will be games, crafts, juice & cookies.
COME TO GALILEE anytime during the event. Register at the table near the office entrance to receive a goody bag! Trunk or Treat will be in the woods near the trailer, games and crafts as well as cookies and juice will also be served.
SEEKING VOLUNTEERS to decorate their car trunks (aka “trunksters”) and distribute candy to the “treaters” who come to our parking lot for this event. Also seeking candy donations & games helpers!

LWML Monthyly Meeting - The Galilee Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) will meet on Sunday, October 21st in the fellowship hall at noon.
As usual, we will try very hard to keep the meeting to an hour. Snacks will be served.

Operation Christmas Child - It's coming up on that time again to think about Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.
When shopping, please look for school supplies, tooth brushes, soap and wash clothes, small toys, cars, dolls, coloring books, water colors in a tray with brush, play jewelry or any toy that will fit into shoe boxes. Each week we will focus on a theme of items to put in your shoe box.
It costs $9 to send a box, so any donations made out to LWML with OCC in the memo line would cover the cost of shipping. We will have shoe boxes available soon! Please contact Debbie with any questions (410-360-7283). Thanks!

Food has been distributed as it comes in, last year at this time, food valued at $68,000 had been distributed. As of this year, $75,000 has been
distributed to date.

Interested in Joining Galilee? - Friends of Galilee interested in becoming formal members… or learning what makes Lutherans “tick”... are invited to consider our adult inquiry class.
“God Connect” serves as an introduction to the Lutheran approach to Christianity for persons from other branches of the faith… or for spouses of members… or as a review for veteran members.
This class will be offered Saturdays, Nov 3 & 10 from 9am-noon. If you are interested, please RSVP to Emily by Oct. 21st.

Crave is Back! - Mark your Calendars for Sunday, Nov 4 from 4:30-8pm for Crave!
As we re-launch this community gathering for adults 25 years of age and older, Brian and Katie Zimmerman have graciously volunteered to host the event in their home in Ellicott City. The drive may be a bit further, but free childcare will be available on site!

NECEON Needs Volunteers North County Emergency Outreach Network (NCEON) continues to be in need of volunteers to interview clients. We are open Mon/Wed/Fri from 10 am to 2 pm. Volunteers can select a day of the week they would like to work and cover either a 2 hour shift or the full 4 hour shift.
Volunteers will receive the necessary training and will work with a partner until they feel comfortable in the position. Please contact Bill Roesler at our email address
